Mac repair in Cannes

Independent Mac repairer in Cannes: MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Studio. Software and hardware diagnosis at home or at the workshop in Le Cannet. No Apple Premium surcharge — the same rates as for PCs.

Cannes has a high density of Macs: creatives, freelancers, photographers, communications agencies, professional practices. The result: a very varied fleet of Macs, from the recent MacBook Air M2 to the 27-inch 2015 iMac that's been sluggish since macOS Sonoma. I handle both extremes.

My most frequent Mac jobs in Cannes: slowness after a macOS update (Sonoma and Sequoia have bogged down quite a few machines), a MacBook battery that no longer lasts an hour, a cracked screen or dead pixels, a keyboard that repeats keys (the butterfly keyboard of the 2016-2019 MacBook Pro), data recovery from an internal drive soldered to the motherboard, migration to a new Mac with a clean iCloud transfer.

On pricing, I charge the same for Macs as for PCs. Free diagnosis, a firm quote before any work, payment after a successful repair, 3-month warranty. For recent models that need official Apple parts (Retina screen, M-chip battery), I go through authorised resellers and tell you the extra parts cost before starting the work.

Frequently asked questions

My MacBook Pro M2 has been slow since macOS Sequoia — is that normal?expand_more

No, a recent Mac shouldn't be sluggish. Often it's background agents (multiple cloud syncs, antivirus, old Adobe processes) that are saturating the memory. Diagnosis and clean-up in 1-2 h, and the machine is smooth again.

My MacBook screen is cracked, do you repair it?expand_more

Yes, for a full replacement. I order the original Apple screen (or a certified compatible one depending on your budget), then a clean disassembly, fitting and calibration. The quote varies by model: €250-450 including the part for MacBook Air, more for the Pro Retina.

My 2015 iMac has a sluggish hard drive, should I replace it?expand_more

A classic case in Cannes — the iMacs of that era have a slow HDD that collapses under recent macOS. I replace it with a 500 GB or 1 TB SSD, a dramatic gain in smoothness (×10). Reckon on €200-300 depending on the SSD chosen. Many of my Cannes clients have extended the life of their iMac by 5 years with this upgrade.

Do you install Windows on a Mac with an M chip?expand_more

Not as a direct dual-boot (Apple no longer allows it since the M chips). But I can install Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion to run Windows in a virtual machine, which is enough for 95% of uses.

Do you make home visits for Macs on the Croisette?expand_more

Yes, just as for PCs. For prestige hotels and residences, I adapt to the access protocols (badge, register). The same rate as an ordinary home visit.
